Book Synopsis: A “delightful” tour of Rome’s St. Agnes Outside the Walls, examining the stories, rituals, and architecture of this seventeen-hundred-year-old building (The Christian Science Monitor). In The Geometry of Love, acclaimed author Margaret Visser, the preeminent “anthropologist of everyday life,” takes on the living history of the ancient church of St. Agnes. Examining every facet of the building, from windows to catacombs, Visser takes readers on a mesmerizing tour of the old church, covering its social, political, religious, and architectural history. In so doing, she illuminates not only the church’s evolution but also its religious legacy in our modern lives. Written as an antidote to the usual dry and traditional studies of European churches, The Geometry of Love is infused with Visser’s unmatched warmth and wit, celebrating the remarkable ways that one building can reveal so much about our history and ourselves.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Synopsis: ?[Praeg] applies the notion of ?sacrificial violence?, as developed by Girard, to the genocide in Rwanda, necklace burnings in South Africa, and the phenomenon of family murders. He shows how there is an underlying logic tying these together, while at the same time resisting a unifying (modernist) discourse which attempts to eradicate the differences. This is an extremely interesting, at times fascinating, text. It is very well written and ... [the] insights gained leave no option but to rethink the manifestation of violence fundamentally.? ? Book Synopsis: The book reveals a deep connection between Geometry, God's Love and the Self by focusing on the Geometry of Creation and patterns behind shapes, events and feelings. A selfward journey is signposted by the topics such as Numbers, Golden Proportion, Fractals, Spirals and Music. With its artistic fusion of written and the full colour visual elements the book informs, entertains and inspires. The foreword is written by Egyptian architects Dr Ibrahim F. Karim MEMENTO 13 will appeal to a wide audience because it bridges the gap between writings on self-discovery intended for the academic and those designated for the layperson. It is meant to equally intrigue philosophers, scientists, architects, artists, as well as general readers who want to understand more about the fascinating properties of geometry and numbers and their relationship to the Creation, life, art and the self. The book is structured through 13 chapters. Author intertwines disciplines, cultures, ages, topics of visible and invisible, physical and metaphysical, Earth and Sky, into a unique tapestry of scientific and spiritual knowledge. Reinforced by a distinctive visual beauty, with 360 captioned illustrations, produced in full colour Memento 13 is an extraordinary book on geometric paths that Creator's Love and Consciousness travel through, leading us to His Essence in our own being. The book is an authentic contribution to the topic of sacred geometry and spiritual growth. Author explores the bigger picture of life in which everything is interconnected in a perfect (geometrical) order, wherein individual behaviour unmistakably impacts on others and the whole. She highlights that recognising the Oneness of Creation is the key to comprehending the truth of life and the self. While exploring mathematical dimension of the self through the topics such as Numbers, Golden Proportion, Fractals, Spirals and Music, Memento 13 blends science and spirituality into one wisdom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Synopsis: Despite the diversity of theories of human psychology, the majority shares a view of the personality as a collection of traits, ways of thinking and acting, that allow the observer to define, recognize, and understand people and their motivations. The Eight Crystal Alliances takes a more inclusive, holistic approach toward a personality typology that incorporates the physical body, the thoughts, the emotions, and the soul. The book is based on the study and application of eight magnetic groups of “geometric alliances,” eight types of human personality classified along energetic principles linking human nature with “mineral nature.” These types, according to the authors, range from Cubic (rational and organized) to Rhombic (sympathetic, empathetic, and serving others) to Buddhic (here-now, spontaneous, creative, non-conventional, freedom-loving, rebellious, but level-headed). Uncovering the hidden relationship between the human and mineral kingdoms, the book addresses the deep vibrational energies contained within stones that can influence our etheric bodies and, consequently, the other bodies we are made of—mental, emotional, and physical. With detailed lists of stone qualities and case histories, the book shows readers how to use the power of these everyday objects in their personal lives and careers as part of their journey of spirit. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Synopsis: This book, which focuses on the study of curvature, is an introduction to various aspects of pseudo-Riemannian geometry. We shall use Walker manifolds (pseudo-Riemannian manifolds which admit a non-trivial parallel null plane field) to exemplify some of the main differences between the geometry of Riemannian manifolds and the geometry of pseudo-Riemannian manifolds and thereby illustrate phenomena in pseudo-Riemannian geometry that are quite different from those which occur in Riemannian geometry, i.e. for indefinite as opposed to positive definite metrics. Indefinite metrics are important in many diverse physical contexts: classical cosmological models (general relativity) and string theory to name but two. Walker manifolds appear naturally in numerous physical settings and provide examples of extremal mathematical situations as will be discussed presently. To describe the geometry of a pseudo-Riemannian manifold, one must first understand the curvature of the manifold. We shall analyze a wide variety of curvature properties and we shall derive both geometrical and topological results. Special attention will be paid to manifolds of dimension 3 as these are quite tractable. We then pass to the 4 dimensional setting as a gateway to higher dimensions. Since the book is aimed at a very general audience (and in particular to an advanced undergraduate or to a beginning graduate student), no more than a basic course in differential geometry is required in the way of background. To keep our treatment as self-contained as possible, we shall begin with two elementary chapters that provide an introduction to basic aspects of pseudo-Riemannian geometry before beginning on our study of Walker geometry. An extensive bibliography is provided for further reading.
